Discover
the charm of a traditional Vietnamese fishing
village on the Southern coast of Vietnam. The
town of Phan Thiet, 200 kilometers northeast
of Ho Chi Minh City, has been a fishing village
for centuries. Strolling through the village
along the river, visitors will discover a simpler
lifestyle, where cyclos still ply the streets
as fishing boats bob in the harbor.
Phan Thiet is a fishing town with beautiful
sandy beaches stretching northwards towards the
famous dunes at Mui Ne. Just a three-hour drive
northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Thiet makes
a pleasant change from modern city life.
On
your way there you will find fascinating roadside
sights such as unlimited rubber tree plantations,
banana trees, and dragon fruit along with miles
of colorful picturesque rice fields. You will
also come across small fishing villages teaming
with their catches of the day, boys clinging on
buffalo backs or Vietnamese fishermen tending
to their nets.
For golf enthusiasts, the Ocean Dunes Golf Club,
located by the sea, is a prize-winning links-style
course designed by Nick Faldo.
